On April 7, 2019, the interreligious prayer service was held at the Divan Center. Pastor Nancy E. Petty, from Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, Rabbi Lucy Dinner from Temple Beth Or and Imam Abdullah Antepli from Duke University started the interfaith prayer service among Jews, Christians and Muslims. At the 6th gathering of this interfaith prayer service more members from different faiths and religions joined. Elise Strevel from the Kadampa Center Tibetan Buddhist Community, Nancy Hendershot from the Baha’I Faith and the Triangle Interfaith Alliance Vice President William Calhoun were other speakers of the event.
This wonderful event was filled to capacity with people from all faith who shared food and conversation. We were delighted with the enchanting music from Temple Beth Or and Turkish instrument the Saz. It was great to see the diversity of religious all together peacefully in one place. We hope that these types of gatherings continue out into the broader communities.
